Roy Robert Capps of Moore, died on Monday, February 17, 2020 in San Antonio. He was born in Brownfield to Robert “Bob” Capps and Johnnie (Bluhm) Capps.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Patcie Capps and bother Raymond Capps.

Roy is survived by his daughter Julie and husband Michael Dumsky of Greenville, Texas and son Billy J. Capps of Bridge City, grandchildren Zach and wife Natalie White of Caddo Mills, Colton White of Terrell, Texas, Stephanie Schuessler of Dallas, Becky and Zoey Dumsky of Greenville, great grandchild Daniel Schuessler of Dallas, nephew Troy Capps and wife Jennifer of Devine, and niece Lori and husband Chris Bledsoe, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, one being Brenda Fernandez, who cared for him until his death.

He spent part of his childhood in Seagraves and later moved to Devine where he lived until being drafted into the US Army. Roy was a Vietnam veteran as a M14-Rifle Sharpshooter, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campion Medal. After an honorable discharge, Roy followed in his father’s footsteps and became a professional painter. Upon retirement, he would DJ and visit his favorite destination in Eagle Pass, watching the Dallas Cowboys or enjoying a western show.

Pallbearers included Gene Capps, Troy Capps, Kenny Capps, Joe (Doc) Linehan, Monty Linehan, Mike Fernandez.

Visitation was held Sunday, February 23 at the Hurley Funeral Home in Devine from 2 to 3 p.m. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. at the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel with Chestly Gobar officiating.

Interment will be held Wednesday, March 4 at 1 p.m. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
