She is preceded in death by her husband Richard Bates Sr. and daughter Linda Bates.
She survived by her children Richard Bates Jr. (Terry) of Dade City, Emory Bates (Odulia) of Dilley, Liza Ford (Neal) of Indiana and sister Brenda King. She also survived by numerous grandchildren.
