Ramiro Ortiz


Ramiro R. Ortiz, 87, died on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 in Cotulla. He was born September 12, 1932, in Cotulla, to Manuel Sr. and Maria De La Luz Ortiz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Frances “Pancha” Gonzalez, brothers Manuel Ortiz Jr. and Juan J. Ortiz, sister Alicia R. Ortiz.
Ramiro is survived by his second wife Maria M. Ayala of Cotulla, his son Ramiro S. Ortiz of Wisconsin, his daughters Lucita Villarreal (Joe) of Texas, Crisilda C. Barred and Jazmin F. Ortiz, both of Wisconsin and Oralia M. Dodakian of Nevada. He is further survived by his brother Abel (Elvia) Ortiz, sisters Lucille Ysabel Barrera Ortiz, Sylvia O. Arizola and Ymelda O. Quintanilla, nine grandchildren, eight great- grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Ramiro married Frances in Racine, Wisconsin on April 24, 1953.
He worked for Racine Unified School District as a maintanence engineer for 32 years, retiring in June of 1992.
A wake was held on Thursday, May 14 from 5 to 9 p.m., with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at Peters Funeral Home in Cotulla. Mass was celebrated Friday, May 15 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment followed in the Cotulla East Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ramiro S. Ortiz, Antonio O. Rodriguez, Gilbert Ayala, Rocky Maldonado, Pancho Ochoa and Joe Arranda.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Peters Funeral Home, Cotulla.
