Alan Brant Nieschwietz

Alan Brant Nieschwietz died on June 5, 2020 at the age of 48. He was born on October 8, 1971 to John F. and Nancy Nieschwietz.

Alan was born in McAllen on October 8, 1971. He lived in Weslaco and attended Weslaco schools, graduating with honors from Weslaco High School on June 1, 1990. As a youth he was very active in 4-H in several areas, winning the High-Point Award in a rifle competition, and won several awards in cooking. In high school he was very active in FFA, ROTC, and Drama Club. While still in high school he joined the Army Reserves as the youngest Valley recruit. His training was at Fort Polk, Louisiana. During this period he drove a truck for a couple of years on a route from New York to California. He then attended college and received a degree in History and English, after which he taught those subjects for a couple of years. He was a newspaper reporter in both Brenham and Clute for many years.

He joined the Weslaco Elks Lodge in 2003 and was very active there, working on committees and doing fundraising. He later transferred his membership to the Brenham and Clute Lodges as he worked in those cities.

He moved to the family ranch in 2017 to help run the ranch.

Later in his life, he allowed his hair to grow long and then cutt it and donated it to kids who had lost theirs to cancer treatment.

Alan is survived by his parents, brothers, John Nieschwietz III, Christopher Ryan Nieschwietz and niece Callie Michelle Nieschwietz.

Visitation will be on Thursday, June 11 at Peters Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Graveside Services will be held at the Encinal Cemetery on Friday, June 12 at 10:30 a.m.

Pallbearers will include James Stone, Robert Jenkins, Cooper Couch, Bill Mills, Raymond Couch and Justin Colston. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brian Smith and TJ Stone.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Peters Funeral Home, Cotulla.
