Romana Pena Sanchez, 98, died on June 15, 2020 in Pearsall. She was born on February 28, 1922 in Frio County.
Romana was preceded in death by her husband Macario Sanchez, mother Luisa Martinez, daughters Alma Garza and Corrina Rendon, son Roberto (Pie) Sanchez and one great-granddaughter, Melissa Iris Gutierrez.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Hilberto (Yolanda) Sanchez of Prairie View, Illinois, daughters and sons-in-law Maria (Roy) Black and Sylvia (Jaime) Lechuga of Pearsall, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, June 19 with a Rosary at 7 p.m. in the chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home. Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 20 in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with interment to follow in the Catholic West Cemetery in Pearsall.
