CUDD, 80
Carlos Albert Cudd, 80, formerly of Pearsall, died at Briarcliff Health Center in Tyler on June 19, 2020, with family at his side.
Carlos was born the eldest son of the late Cecil and Mary Alice (Baker) Cudd in Corpus Christi on October 21, 1939.
Carlos is survived by his wife of 35 years Carol Cudd of Tyler, three daughters Zane Williams and husband Sid Williams IV of San Antonio, Fonn Lee and husband James of Rockwall, and Cristi Linn and husband Rev. Jimmy of Wildwood, step-children Jan Robertson of San Antonio, Steve Sanders of Henderson, Jim Sanders of Polo, Missouri, and Larry Sanders of Leander, two sisters Wanda White of Honey Grove, and Jackie Faye Landa of Natalia, twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren, and numerous other family and friends.
He was a 1958 graduate of Pearsall High School and served as class president. He continued his education by receiving an Associate’s Degree from Southwest Texas Junior College in Uvalde followed by a Bachelor of Science degree in Range Animal Husbandry from Sul Ross University in Alpine.
Carlos later attended Incarnate Word University in San Antonio and received a teaching certification in Secondary Education with a minor in Science and Biology. Carlos worked as a teacher, small business owner, and tennis coach. He served as a teacher and coach at Uvalde Middle School with a full day’s schedule of tennis classes where he taught until his retirement.
He was named the Texas Tennis Coaches Association Junior High Tennis Coach of the Year in 1993.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 3 in the First Baptist Church of Pearsall. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Gideon International, gideons.org or the Alzheimer’s foundation, Alzfdn.org.
