Ricardo “Ricky” Hernandez Galvan Jr., 43, lost his battle to COVID-19 on August 20, 2020 in San Antonio. He was born on November 15, 1976 in San Antonio to parents Ricardo Galvan and Esther Hernandez Galvan.
He is survived by his wife Angela Gonzalez Galvan, three sons Edward “Eddie” Gonzalez, Anthony Rene Galvan and Hector Galvan, mother Esther Galvan, father and step-mother Ricardo and Irene Galvan, his twin sister Raymunda “Mandy” Khattak, and one brother Victor Galvan.
Ricky graduated from John Jay High School in 1995 and enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1998, where he received his initial training in the medical field. His military career included three deployments to Iraq. He was discharged in 2004 and returned to San Antonio to continue as a front line worker at the South Texas Cardiology Institute. When not working long hours, Ricky volunteered to coach baseball and basketball to the youth of several Catholic parishes, and football with the Brackenridge Jr. Eagles.
According to family, he enjoyed spending quality time in Pearsall with his in-laws Edward “Tiny” and Lenor Gonzalez.
Due to the restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, private services and interment will be held in the Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery with military honors.
