Charles Dee Moore
Charles Dee Moore, 74, died on August 19, 2020 after battling COVID-19. The eldest son of Doris Burney Moore and William Arthur Moore and the grandson of Dee and Ora Burney and Charlie and Ora Moore, Charles was born on May 12, 1945 in Comfort.
He was preceded in death by his brother John Moore.
Charles is survived by his wife of forty two years, Paula Franz Moore, daughters Edna Moore Sawey and Sarah Anne Moore, son William Theodore Moore, adopted son Christopher McDonald, daughter-in-law Letitia Garcia and son-in-law James Sawey, grandsons Cutter Hetfield Slover, and Christopher Paul Moore, five brothers, Virgil Moore and wife Janice, George Moore and wife Janice, Paul Gale Moore, Yancy Moore and wife Kelly, and Arthur Burney Moore and wife Marsha, of Dilley, as well as sister-in-law Joyce Moore and numerous nephews and nieces.
Dee was a master carpenter and woodworker who shared his knowledge with the youth of South San ISD while teaching Building Trades classes for twenty years. He was the super for various home builders and used these skills to put himself and his first wife, Wyla Lou Moore, through Texas State University. He obtained a B.S. in Agriculture with a minor in Biology, Chemistry, and Animal Husbandry. He was a certified surveyor and soil tester for Texas. He was also a certified Special Education Teacher. He was a farmer and cattle raiser and the occasional family vet and doctor.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his church, FUMC of Luling, or the Parkinson’s Society.
