Driver may have run traffic light, police say
A Pearsall man is recovering this week after being struck by a vehicle whose driver may have run a red light on the west side of town.
According to a report on the case, police were dispatched to the intersection of Comal and Trevino streets around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, November 29, after a call about a pedestrian who had been hit.
Officers arrived to find a 26-year-old man lying in the roadway and complaining of leg pain. Emergency service personnel immediately transferred the man to Frio Regional Hospital.
During a roadside interview with the driver of the vehicle that had struck the man, investigating law enforcement learned the driver might have run through a red traffic light before the collision.
Neither the driver nor the passenger claimed to have seen the man before he was struck; police are confirming that the vehicle occupants did not appear to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
The victim was later transferred to University Hospital in San Antonio for treatment of his injuries.
