The Frio County Sheriff’s Office has summoned the assistance of the Texas Rangers in an investigation into the identity of a man whose body was found near Bigfoot two weeks ago.
Emergency responders were summoned to a scene beside a two-lane road in an outlying area of the county on Tuesday, November 17, after a passer-by reported seeing the body.
According to the sheriff’s office, the deceased male has not been identified and was carrying no proof of identification, and officers will shortly determine whether the man was the victim of foul play.
The case is not the first in Frio County in which a body has been abandoned in a remote rural area. Cases related to murder in San Antonio have involved the depositing of bodies south of the city, and in one case a vehicle containing a murder victim was destroyed by fire on a county road.
Sheriff’s officers are expected to determine whether the deceased was a US citizen or an undocumented immigrant who died while traveling through Frio County.
