LOCAL STUDENTS EARN PLACES ON REGION, AREA BANDS

Student members of the high school bands auditioned for the Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB) Region and Area bands last weekend by making recordings of their rehearsed pieces of music for judging.

The change in auditioning was made in response to the coronavirus pandemic, as students from high school bands across South Texas were unable to travel and congregate for auditions with judges in the traditional style.

Trombone: Brandon Rodriguez, 10th grade, 3rd chair Concert Band.

Tuba: Luis Benavidez, 9th grade, 4th chair Concert Band, Area bound.

Each student auditioning from Dilley High School earned a place in the All Region Band – Concert or Symphonic – or advanced to the Area Band.
