Ruben Avila Recio, 65 of Pearsall, died on December 21, 2020 in San Antonio. He was born on September 14, 1955 in McKinney, Texas to Victor Recio and Susana Avila.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Antonio Recio (Irene) of Robstown, Victor Recio Jr. of Robstown, Juan Recio of Dallas, sister Sylvia Cisneros (Felix) of Dallas, father-in-law Guadalupe Escalante Sr. and brothers-in-law Robert Escalante and Rudolfo Escalante of Pearsall.
He is survived by his wife Maria Dalia of Pearsall, children Melinda Recio of Annaville, Texas, John Gabriel Recio (Anita) of Andrews, Laura Berrelez (Marcus) of Pearsall, Ruben Matthew Recio of Pearsall, grandchildren Alizandra, Marisa, Elisa and Marcus Berrelez Jr. (Marcitos), Zenida, Zemira, Zienna and Zaida Recio, Matthew Isaac, Isabella, Gunner and Zanirah Recio, mother-in-law Dolores Escalante of Pearsall, brothers and sisters-in-law Leonides Escalante (Mary Jane) of Pearsall, Janie Stokes of Katy, Guadalupe Escalante Jr. (Elsie) of Pleasanton, Gilbert Escalante (Irene) of San Antonio. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Tuesday, January 5 at Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Chapel from 3 to 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral mass was celebrated Wednesday, January 6 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Interment followed at the Pearsall Cemetery. Services will be limited to immediate family only.
