We just got done doing Christmas with my parents, which means I had to give my dad a gift. As hard as I try, I never can get him something that really gets him excited. Yes, I can buy him socks and shirts every year, but that’s never going to impress him. Do I just get over this, or do you think there’s really something out there that would matter to the quiet cowboy type?
C, I tell you what,
Everybody has somethin they like. Trouble is, not everybody shares about it. You can’t beat yourself up about not havin a good gift for a guy that don’t give you somethin to go on.
You can watch what your dad does, see if maybe you can pin down some kind of hobby, but the quiet cowboy types usually have weird hobbies anyway. Somethin tells me you won’t be givin the man a pen of cattle.
Don’t be afraid to buy him tools that he could use but wouldn’t bother buyin himself. A good walkin stick can be a man’s best friend, but a man’s pride don’t always let him get that. That’s your time to shine.
I’ve got a weird spot on my back. It itches, and it bothers me, but I really hate doctors. My wife keeps nagging me about it, but I don’t think it’s that bad. Do I need to go get something like this checked?
Yes. Go see a doctor. Don’t fool around with weird spots, because weird spots can be nothin or weird spots can be bad spots, and that’s what doctors are for is knowin the difference and either sendin you on your way or fixin the spots.
Old guys givin advice in a place like this is more for askin if it’s weird that you’d rather let a spot bother you than go to a doctor. It ain’t weird you don’t like doctors. A lot of folks don’t, but it’s somethin you need to get over, so you can go see the doctor about that spot. See what I did there? Told you again! And just in case you missed it, GO SEE THE DOCTOR.
