A Rio Grande City man was arrested after a routine traffic stop by La Salle County deputies led to the discovery of 200 grams of cocaine inside his vehicle.
Police say the 32-year-old man was speeding on Highway 44 east of Encinal when deputies effected the traffic stop.
According to a report on the case, the driver, identified as Mario Garcia Pena, allegedly consented to the search of the 2006 Chevrolet 1500 he had been driving.
Deputies examining the pickup truck discovered that Pena had attempted to conceal the narcotics in the pockets of his dirty work pants.
Pena was transported to the La Salle County Jail without incident and faces a felony drug possession charge.
