HIGH SCHOOL POWERLIFTING
Cotulla kicked off its 2021 powerlifting season last week with a team title as they hosted a girls’ tri-meet that included Lytle and Dilley on Thursday, January 21.
Due to COVID-19 protocols, teams this season are hosting meets that are largely dual events or tri-meets.
All ten of the Cowgirls lifters finished fourth or better in their respective weight classes as they captured the team title at the event.
Trevlynn Aldaco was first in 114-lb. division, Kate Guzman won in the 123-lb. weight class, Jonessa Ramirez won in the 132-lb. weight division, Jennifer Benavidez won the 148-lb. title and Regina Seidel took first in the 220-lb. weight division.
Abygale Gonzalez and Lillian Gonzalez both finished second in the 198 and 220-lb. weight classes.
The Cowgirls’ Jenivae Rodriguez was third in the 220-lb. division while Davira Gonzalez was third in 114-lb. weight class.
Aaliyah Garcia finished fourth overall in 114-lb. division.
Cotulla will play host to the Dilley Wolves on Thursday, January 28 as the two will compete in a boys’ dual meet.
