In a remake of a previously postponed contest, Pearsall dropped a 61-28 decision to Hondo in District 30-4A basketball action Saturday morning, January 23.
Due to COVID-19 precautions, the Lady Mavs had games the week of January 11-15 postponed. The team was set to return to action on January 22 against Uvalde but that contest was also postponed.
Pearsall returned to the court Saturday morning after a two-week layoff and surrendered an early lead in a loss to the Lady Owls.
The Lady Mavs jumped out to a 10-9 lead in the first period and led by as many as six points in the second when Hondo went on a three-point shooting barrage to take the lead.
The Lady Owls outscored Pearsall 17-2 in the second period to take a 26-12 halftime lead.
Hondo would go on to outscore the Lady Mavs 35-16 in the second half to roll to the 33-point win.
With the loss, Pearsall fell to 0-3 in league play while Hondo moved to 2-1 in the standings and tied for second with Uvalde.
Crystal City sits atop the standings at 4-0 in district. Carrizo Springs is also winless in league play at 0-3.
