Candidate filing period has begun
The filing period for candidates seeking election to school district boards of trustees has opened, giving community members an opportunity to serve local education in Frio and La Salle counties.
This year’s school board elections are scheduled for Saturday, May 1, in Pearsall and Cotulla. There is no school board election scheduled for Dilley ISD until November 2022.
The filing period for candidacy closes at 5 p.m. on Friday, February 12, at the school district administration offices in Pearsall and Cotulla, where application forms are available. The offices can be reached at (830) 334-8001 in Pearsall and at (830) 879-3073, ext. 1011 in Cotulla.
At Pearsall ISD, the ballot this year will include Place 3, currently held by Marco Reyes; Place 4, currently held by Rochelle Camacho; and Place 7, currently held by Sandra Waldrum.
Reyes has held his seat on the school board for ten years; Camacho has held her seat for 14 years; and Waldrum has held her seat for six years.
Each of the places on the Pearsall ISD Board of Trustees is a three-year term.
At Cotulla ISD, applications are now being taken for candidates vying for election in places 1 and 4.
Place 1 on the CISD Board of Trustees has been held for the past ten years by Kim Hoff. Place 4 has been held for the past 12 years by Scott Reese. Hoff was appointed to the board in December 2010 and was then elected to hold the seat in May 2011. Reese was appointed to the board in August 2008 and was elected to hold the seat in May 2009. Each has since been re-elected for successive terms.
Each of the places on the CISD Board of Trustees is a three-year term.
