Beever, 82

William Duane “Bill” Beever, 82, of Pearsall, died on January 8, 2021, at Metropolitan Methodist Hospital in San Antonio of a rare autoimmune disease complicated by COVID-19. He was born on March 2, 1938, to Charles and Florence Beever in Pearsall.

He is survived by his wife, daughters Bethany (Shan) Jenkins, Britany (Brad) Just, and son Will (Meredith) Beever, as well as brother Steve Beever and sister-in-law Barbara Beever. He is also survived by nine grandchildren Savannah, Sadie, and Truitt Jenkins; Peter, Matthew, and Samuel Just and Trey, Garrett, and Emma Beever.

He earned his degree in Civil Engineering at Texas A&M College, where he was a member of the Aggie Corps of Cadets. After graduating in 1960, Bill served a short stint in the military then moved to Houston to start his first job working as a Civil Engineer. He met his wife of more than 55 years, Phyllis Mathiews, while living in the same apartment complex in Houston and the couple were married in 1965, then moved back to Pearsall to live near, and work with, Bill’s family. It was there that they raised their three children, Bethany, Britany, and Will.

Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing, Aggie football, politics, and flying his Cessna 210 and until the quarantine, he made daily trips to town to drink coffee with his friends. He later became an avid drone operator and dedicated himself to helping eradicate the feral hog population.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jamie and Gus, and sister-in-law Susie Beever.

The family will hold a private graveside ceremony in Pearsall. Those wishing to honor Bill’s memory are encouraged to donate to the First Baptist Church, 204 S. Walnut, Pearsall, Texas 78061, or to a charity of their choice.
