Dilley’s Lady Wolves golf team competed at the Ingram Golf Classic in Kerrville on February 2 in their inaugural meet of the season.
The tournament was held at the same location as the regional event for the 2021 season, the Scott Schreiner Golf Course.
“Our Lady Wolves did well for it being the first tournament of the year,” DHS Head Coach Jose Alfaro said. “We had some vast improvements from our senior Skyler Bradshaw, who lead the team with a score of 117, that was good enough to place 32nd out of 52 golfers competing.
The team finished eighth out of 14 schools with a team score of 536.
The team then competed in the Somerset Boys Golf Tournament on February 3 at the Pleasanton Country Club.
“Our boys held up well despite being their first tournament of the year,” Coach Alfaro said. “We played hard and had some great shots on the course.
“The team was led by rookie golfer Braydon Foster (sophomore), who despite never playing golf prior to this year, shot a round of 101. Senior Ashton Lanpar wasn’t far behind with a score of 117. Braydon managed to place 22nd out of 64 golfers and Ashton was 49th.
“Our boys played well and, as a team, tied for 11th out of 16 teams with a team score of 483,” the coach said.
Due to inclement weather, the team’s next two tournaments were postponed.
The girls are slated to be in Devine on February 22 with the boys competing in Devine on February 23.
