HIGH SCHOOL TRACK & FIELD
Amid a pandemic and just prior to this week’s winter storm, Dilley’s track and field teams opened the 2021 season in action at the Pleasanton Relays on Wednesday, February 10.
Fielding a limited squad, the Wolves and Lady Wolves still managed to collect a number of medals at the event.
Results are as follows: 100m dash, Esai Lozano, second, Derik Garcia, fifth; 200m dash, Esai Lozano, first, Derik Garcia, second; 400m dash, Esai Lozano, first; 800m run, Edgardo Ramos, second; 300m hurdles, Jhonathon Trevino, fourth; 1,600m run, Edgardo Ramos, third, Anthony Guerra, fourth; 3,200m run, Anthony Guerra, third, Aiden Aguilar, fourth.
Girls’ results are as follows: 400m dash, Chloe Rodriguez, second; 800m dash, Chloe Rodriguez, fourth; long jump, Jeralyn Gonzales, sixth; shot put, Janae Galindo, second; discus, Janae Galindo, fourth.
“Good job to the ones who competed yesterday,” DHS Head Coach Victor Flores said of his athletes’ performances. “Athletes interested in running track need to get with myself, Coach James Rodriguez, Coach Marcos Rubalcava, or Coach Shandi Rios.”
The DHS track teams were scheduled to be in Hondo Thursday afternoon, February 18 but weather postponed that event. The team is scheduled to host the Wolf Pack Relays on Thursday, February 25.
