HIGH SCHOOL POWERLIFTING
Dilley’s Kelsey Eguia, Alex Alvarez and Damian Rodriguez have earned qualifying lifts for the regional po04werlifting meet and will be competing in Mathis on March 6 and Bishop on March 11.
All three are currently ranked tenth in the region in their respective weight classes.
Eguia has a combined total lift of 730 lbs., Rodriguez posted a combined total of 940 lbs. while Alvarez is ranked tenth in the super heavyweight class.
In their final qualifying event of the season, the Wolves competed at Natalia with Alvarez taking gold in his division and four other lifters earning medals, as well.
Rodriguez was second at 132 lbs., posting lifts of 330 lbs. in the squat, 200 lbs. in the bench press and 410 lbs. in the deadlift. He had a total weight of 940 lbs. Gonzalez was second at 181 lbs., posting lifts of 435 lbs. in the squat, 225 lbs. in the bench press and 420 lbs. in the deadlift for a 1,080-lb. total weight.
Vicente Correa was also second at 220 lbs. He had lifts of 450 lbs. in the squat, 250 lbs. in the bench press and 474 lbs. in the deadlift. His total weight was 1,175 lbs.
Carrasco was third in the 242-lb. division with a total lift of 1,145 lbs. He tallied lifts of 405 lbs. in the squat, 325 lbs. in the bench and 415 lbs. in the deadlift.
Jay Crane, Lionel Martinez, Raul Molina and Jhonathan Trevino also competed.
The Texas High School Womens Powerlifting Association Region V, Division 3 meet is on Saturday, March 6 in Mathis while the THSPA Region V, Division 3 meet is slated for Thursday, March 11.
