Senior sprinter captures gold medals in each of her five events.
Pearsall’s Lady Mavs finished second overall by 12 points to Class 6A Del Rio in action at the Uvalde Relays at the Honey Bowl last Thursday.
“The girls are improving and welcoming the competition,” PHS Head Coach Arlene Silva said. “Kiana Kebbi came home with five gold medals.
“We are still working towards our individual and team goals. Our coaching staff is doing an excellent job in coaching our kids in their events and right now it’s about putting all the pieces together in time for our district meet which will be at the end of March.”
Del Rio won the meet with 192 points while Pearsall tallied 180 points.
Kebbi continued her torrid pace this season as she won all five of her events. She took first in the 100m, 200m and 400m dashes and also won the long jump and triple jumps. Pearsall’s relay teams also finished second, third and fourth.

“Overall, I was impressed with how our athletes responded to some great competition,” PHS Head Boys Coach Julian Hernandez said. “We are beginning to figure out where our athletes can be successful and how they fit into this puzzle.
“Jasiah Vaquera stood out as he won the triple jump, high jump, placed second in the long jump, second in the 110m hurdles and anchored our 800m relay. Seth Salinas improved by two seconds from his 400m time from the week before. He also helped our mile relay team with Josiah Peralta, Frank Ellis, and Mark Ovalle improve their time as well.”
Pearsall was only topped by Class 6A Del Rio and Eagle Pass at the event as they finished first and second. The Mavs were third with 110 points.
