LOCAL LIFTERS EARN STATE BIDS

Cotulla’s Jennifer Benavidez, Regina Seidel and Pearsall’s Alamar Garcia and Sol Selvera have earned qualifying spots at the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association State Championships March 17-20 in Corpus Christi. Benavidez was a regional champion in the 148-lb. weight class with a total weight of 970 lbs. Regina Seidel also qualified with a total lift of 900 lbs. in the 220-lb. division. Garcia was fourth in the 114-lb. weight class with a total weight of 730 lbs. Selvera was eighth in her division but after Class 4A was divided into large and small school divisions, she was second in the small school division.
