The Moore Community Club will host its first meeting of 2021 on March 17 at 7 p.m. and discussions will include fundraisers, service projects, officer elections as well as other plans for the year and a 2020 recap.
“We joined forces with the Moore Volunteer Fire Department to deliver FEMA water bottles and meals-ready-to-eat (MREs),” Moore CIC representative Shelley Delgado said. “We helped over 50 Moore residents and we still have supplies to distribute.
“It wouldn’t be possible without the help of every volunteer that showed up on Saturday morning. If you or someone you know still needs food or bottled water, let one of our Club Officers know or call the Moore Volunteer Fire Department and we will be more than willing to assist you and get you what you need and deserve.”
In other news, the club also announced a pop-up Farmers Market sponsored by the San Antonio Food Bank.
“This event will be at the Moore Community Center on Monday March 22 at 9 a.m.” Delgado said. “There will be an opportunity for seniors and Women, Infants and Children (WIC) recipients to sign up and apply for the vouchers for the program beginning at 8 a.m.”
Delgado noted that the Moore CIC offered a special thanks to Rosa Cubriel for her efforts in bringing food to the elderly and those in need.
“Through her continued efforts, she obtained $100 Walmart gift cards from AACOG for seniors in our area,” Delgado said. “She and her team of volunteers (Butch and Claudia Sturdevant and Jerry Moya) are doing great things and taking great strides to provide nutrition for our seniors.”
These additional food programs are in addition to the Moore Senior Box Program. The next distribution date for this service is the last Monday of the month. It is still not too late to get enrolled in the food distribution program for the elderly.
Anyone wishing to sign up can call (830) 931-1740 for information.
Distribution times vary, so add your name to be included for notification of distributions.
Delgado also extended her thanks to Bobby Evans and Butch Sturdevant for repairing the broken water lines at the Moore Community Center following the winter storm last month.
Additional updates and information are posted regularly on the Moore CIC Facebook page.
