The Pearsall Police Department has named Detective Corporal Jesse Gutierrez as the Officer of the Quarter, commending him for a proactive approach to law enforcement and a series of notable arrests.
The six-year veteran earns the year’s first-quarter accolade for “Providing exemplary service to the community,” according to Police Chief Humberto Torralba II.
“Det. Gutierrez was selected due to his diligence, tenacity, professionalism and self-motivation when investigating felony incidents,” the chief said.
Gutierrez, a Hondo High School graduate, graduated from the Southwest Texas Junior College Law Enforcement Academy in 2014 and has since been a member of the Pearsall Police Department.
Gutierrez and his canine partner, Xena, secured a first-place win at a narcotics competition in Laredo.
In 2017, Gutierrez earned his spot as a detective for the department after he proved his ability to maintain the safety of the community by serving as a key factor with narcotics arrests, according to the police chief.
“In addition, Det. Gutierrez is being recognized for his proactive approach to crime prevention,” Chief Torralba said.
