As it gets hotter and hotter outside, we need more ideas to keep ourselves refreshed. This week, I give you a punch idea, in hopes that you’ll be able to keep yourself and the kids cool and hydrated as we sweat our way into the summer.
As printed in “A Barrel of Food: Nothing Fancy,” 2007. Provided by Peggy Hillje:
2 unsweetened Kool-Aid pkg. (lemon or a flavor of your choice)
1 pkg presweetened Kool-Aid (same flavor as unsweetened)
1 tall can pineapple juice
1 cup sugar
2 qt. water
1 bottle of ginger ale (you can use Sprite)
Mix all together. If it is real hot, the ice will dilute the mixture; if not, you may add a little more water to taste.
This will serve 50 people if you are using punch cups.
I have used cherry Kool-Aid with cranberry juice or cran-apple juice to have a bright red punch for Christmas.
Pro tip: the recipe doesn’t specifically say it, but plenty of ice should be added to this!
