Approximately 1,166 Pearsall registered voters voted in the May 1, 2021 city election. This is about 20 percent of all registered voters. A lower turnout was probably due the thunderstorm on the day of the election, but in general, it shows that several of our citizens have a negative political opinion and do not participate for a multitude of reasons. I imagine some do not like rain but I doubt if that is the real reason for 80 percent voter apathy. What this really means is that 20 percent of our citizens determine the direction of our city. I congratulate all the winners, may you have faith and courage on your civic duties.
