Helen Elizabeth Lindsey, 96, died on May 2, 2021 in Carrollton, Texas. She was born on August 8, 1924 in Charlotte to Charlie and Adella (Fischer) Rosenauer.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 73 years, Elmer Woods Lindsey, son Stanley Woods Lindsey, grandson Sheldon Neil, brothers Johnnie Lee, and Charles Edward.
Helen is survived by her daughter Barbara Sue and husband Berle Barnett of McKinney, grandson Jason Wayne Barnett and Adam Grinage of Lewisville, granddaughter Pamela Renee Clapp, and husband Jason, great-granddaughters Taylor Lindsey, and Kelsey Morgan of Frisco, sister Betty Louise Anderson of San Antonio and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She and Elmer raised their family in San Antonio and they were members of South San Antonio Baptist Church for many years.
After Elmer’s retirement, they moved to Pearsall where she was an active member of the First Baptist Church for 21 years. She served on the kitchen committee, worked in VBS, and was a member of the Ladies Bible Class and the “Road Runner” senior group.
An avid birds and butterfly enthusiast, she cared for and raised many baby doves that fell from the nests in her yard. Among her hobbies were cooking, sewing, quilting, embroidery, dominoes, hunting and fishing.
She moved to McKinney in 2014 to be near her daughter and lived at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community.
Visitation was held Friday, May 7 from 2 to 9 p.m. at the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church in Pearsall on May 8 at 1 p.m. Interment followed at the Pearsall Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the First Baptist Church in her memory.
