BLACKBERRY INFUSED WATER
It’s been really hot again here the last several days. Of course, we all know that this is just the beginning of a gloriously warm summer to come.
It’s really important to drink enough water when it’s so hot, but I meet a lot of people who just don’t like water. This one is for you!
From “Infused Water and Ice” by Amy Hunter, 2018:
1 pint ripe blackberries, lightly mashed
2 limes, thinly sliced
64 ounces cold-filtered water
Place the berries and lime slices in a half-gallon pitcher or jar.
Cover with water. Let sit for 1-2 hours at room temperature for a quick infusion, or refrigerate for anywhere from 4 hours to overnight.
Serve chilled, and drink within 2 days for best results.
Tip: When using in-season fruit, such as berries, always taste them before adding them to your water. If they are sweet and juicy, they are perfect. Sour, moldy, or astringent berries will make your water taste just like that – which is not good, especially alongside tart fruit like citrus.
