Persistent rains over the weekend left many low-lying areas under water in South Texas, including a neighborhood ranch entrance in Pearsall, and the region was whipped by high winds and more precipitation, followed by a ‘wake low’ on Monday night, May 17.
STORM’S AFTERMATH – Downed power lines, uprooted trees, flooded underpasses and extensive private property damage were evidence on Tuesday morning, May 18, of a ‘wake low’ weather system that hammered South Texas immediately after a springtime rain system lashed the region. Heavy rains throughout the coastal plans and Rio Grande Valley as far north as the Balcones Escarpment were followed by powerful wind gusts during the night that caused damage including electrical outages in Pearsall.
