The city of Pearsall is slated to host its dedication ceremony of the Jose “Pepe” Trevino City Hall next week, an event that was delayed last spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to City Manager Federico Reyes, the Tuesday, June 1, event will begin at 2 p.m. and includes a tour of the building, light refreshments, guest speakers and unveiling of a dedication plaque.
The ceremony will also honor long-serving utility director Anita Vasquez for 45 years in city employment.
A March 2018 unanimous vote by Pearsall councilors dedicated a nearly $1.1 million dollar insurance payout to build an annex building across the street from the current City Hall. In June 2020, Pearsall city councilors unanimously approved naming the municipal building after former administrator Trevino.
Trevino died in January 2020. During his 40-year career, he served in several accounting and management positions. Before retiring in 2009, Trevino served as city manager from October 2000 to September 2003 and from September 2005 to July 2009. He also served as Pearsall’s interim city manager from September 2013 to May 2014.
