CANDY BAR BROWNIES
It’s brownies, but it’s candy bars… there’s very little to argue with in such a recipe. I won’t deny that they’re mildly unhealthy… but they’re exceptionally irresistible as well. Just run with it! These could also be perfect for a Father’s Day treat!
From “What Can I Bring? Southern Food For Any Occasion Life Serves Up,” by Elizabeth Heiskell, 2017:
From the author: Get creative with this recipe. If Snickers are your weakness use them, if 3 Musketeers bars float your boat, by all means add them. Symphony bars, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups… pick your poison and get ready for the best brownies ever!
2 (17.6-ounce) packages brownie mix, batter prepared according to package directions for a 13- x 9- inch pan
3 (4.25-ounce) milk chocolate candy bars with almonds and toffee chips (such as Symphony)
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spread half of brownie batter in a lightly greased 13- x 9- inch pan. Place candy bars side by side on top of batter layer. (Do not break or chop the candy bars.)
Spread the remaining brownie batter over candy bar layer. Bake in the preheated oven until the brownies are cooked through, 20 to 30 minutes.
Cool completely in pan on a wire rack, about 1 hour. Cut into 24 squares.
