DILLEY PUBLIC LIBRARY NEWS
By Norma Herrera
The Dilley Public Library recently hosted a special guest, US Army SPC Brandon J. Ramirez, who addressed some of the students from the Mary Harper Middle School.
Ramirez connected with the youths who attended his presentation, in which he encouraged the teens to continue with their education after graduating from high school and to set goals to become what they most wanted to be in the future.
“Nothing is impossible if you really want it,” was among Ramirez’ reminders to his audience.
Some of the students attending the presentation expressed an interest in service careers, including law enforcement, health care, and education.
The library is extending its thanks to SPC Ramirez for giving his time to helping open the minds of our community’s teens to new possibilities and for reminding them to look for exciting opportunities in their future.
It has been a pleasure to offer a guest speaker to youths from the middle school and the DISD Academy Summer Program, as we believe that a library’s resources are varied and offer a wealth of information to tomorrow’s adults.
