Jose Gonzales Olivarez, 78, of Pearsall, died on July 6, 2021 in Dilley. He was born on July 26, 1942 in Lagarto, Texas to Mauricio Olivarez and Candida Gonzales Olivarez.
He is preceded in death by his parents, late wife of 56 years, Maria Graciela Olivarez and siblings Juan Olivarez, Tomas Olivarez, Issac Olivarez and Santos Pineda.
Jose is survived by his wife Juanita Castillo Olivarez of Dilley, children Gerardo Olivarez, Cynthia Elizondo (Abel Sr.), Henna Raja (Azhar), Guadalupe Olivarez (Norma), Brenda Lee Olivarez (Cesar Carillo Sr.), siblings Jesus “Chuy” Olivarez, Alfredo Olivarez, Lorenzo Olivarez, Maria Gonzales, Jesus Saldivar and Rosa Bernal, his nephew Robert Olivarez. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers included Joe Mark Flores, Joey Reyna, Joseph Olivarez, Erik Moreno, Aracely Olivarez, Brianne Calvo, Trey Elizondo and AJ Elizondo.
Visitation was held on Thursday July 8 at Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Chapels from 3 to 9 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral mass was celebrated on Friday July 9 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Interment followed at the Frio County Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Chapels.
