CSCS(SW/AW) Magalie C. Catron, USN, a Pearsall High School Class of 2006 graduate has been promoted to Senior Chief with the rank of E-8. They are senior non-commissioned officers and are considered a separate community within the Navy. Advancement requires a board review by existing master chief petty officers beyond the normal examination score and performance evaluation process. Only four percent of the Navy is made up of this rank.
Magalie enlisted in the Navy in June 2006, serving for the past 15 years. She is currently stationed in Jacksonville, Florida onboard the USS Farragut DDG-99 and serving as the Supply Department Leading Chief Petty Officer leading 55 sailors in daily customer service and supply related operations. She has served on four ships, completed two deployments, two overseas assignments, and two shore tours.
Her awards include the Navy Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, five Navy Marine Corp Achievement Medals, four Good Conduct Medals, two Meritorious Outstanding Volunteer Service Medals and numerous unit awards.
She is currently living in Jacksonville with her husband Darnell, and children Tres (8) and twins D’iari and D’iani (3). Catron is the daughter of Sandra and Augustin Deleon of Pearsall, the late Raymond “Mundo” Castaneda Sr. and sister to the late Raymond Castaneda Jr., both of Dilley.
