A WORD FROM THE MAYOR
Next Monday September 13, the city will be hosting a Comprehensive Master Plan workshop at 5:30 p.m. at the new City Hall.
Local leaders will be present to discuss a wide variety of topics to bring together a plan to move the city forward, a blueprint for the future, if you will. The public is invited as stakeholders in our community; this is a good opportunity to be part of the process.
All municipal governments have a multitude of things to coordinate and manage; roads, water, sewer, gas systems, police, fire, parks, waste disposal, economic development, city admin, etc. Managing all the day-to-day items is a task in and of itself, but add water drainage problems, pandemics, natural disasters, record low temperatures for a few days, and it can put even more strain on the whole piece of the pie.
To truly manage a municipality, we can’t or shouldn’t be reactive to what happens to us, we must be proactive and be forward thinking.
With the multiple large item upgrades, replacements, rebuilds or constructions needed in the next two to ten years, we need to plan now. These will be jobs with large or somewhat large capital expenditures tied to them, so we need to prioritize and plan for them today.
The old adage, ‘an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure,’ is what this meeting will be about. That we live in the best and most free nation on the earth and you, the American citizen have a voice, don’t take that for granted, you are welcome to come join us be part of the process to move our city forward. See you Monday.
God Bless the City of Pearsall, the County of Frio, the State of Texas, the United States of America and You.
Ben T. Briscoe
Mayor of Pearsall
