Frio deputies nab suspect in Moore
Frio County deputies arrested a man Wednesday afternoon suspected of pouring gasoline on his girlfriend and setting her on fire during an argument the previous night.
Deputies say citizens in Moore were concerned about a man wandering along the highway Wednesday morning.
According to a report on the case, investigating deputies approached the man, later identified as 43-year-old Roberto Cocolan, who claimed to have run out of gasoline and had lost his car keys.
Emergency dispatchers told deputies Cocolan was wanted by the San Antonio Police Department for allegedly setting his girlfriend on fire the night before.
Cocolan fled on foot, crossing the median and the northbound lanes of IH-35 when the county deputy attempted to arrest him. The suspect was apprehended shortly thereafter.
Deputies believe Cocolan was traveling to a family member’s house in Laredo in an attempt to evade capture by the San Antonio Police Department.
Cocolan was transported to the Frio County Jail without further incident and charged with a Class A misdemeanor for evading police. Charges related to other alleged offenses are pending.
