HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL
Pearsall opens district volleyball play this Friday at Crystal City.
Pearsall dropped a pair of non-district decisions in volleyball action last week, falling to San Antonio Fox Tech and Pleasanton.
The Lady Mavs dropped a 25-21, 22-25, 16-25, 25-14, 13-15 decision to the Lady Buffaloes on September 7 before losing in three sets to Pleasanton, 7-25, 9-25, 21-25.
“Unfortunately, we did not come out with the win but fought till the end,” PHS Head Coach Erica Tellez said. “The team has come a long way from adjusting to a new coach to having new teammates added to the roster.
“Two players who have improved and who are great leaders on and off the court are my two captions Karlina Rodriguez and Ceara Saenz.”
In one of their final non-district outings before league play, Pearsall fell to Pleasanton on Friday, September 10.
“Our girls have improved a lot from the beginning of the season,” Tellez said. “We had our middle blockers Sophia Garza and Lorelei Reyes get multiple blocks each.
“Our teamwork and communication on the court has improved tremendously.”
Pearsall hosted San Antonio Young Women’s Leadership Academy Tuesday evening in their final non-district contest of the season. The Lady Mavs will open league play Friday, September 28 in Crystal City.
