BANDERA BULLDOG INVITATIONAL CROSS COUNTRY MEET
Pearsall’s Mavericks were seventh and the Lady Mavs eighth in a field of 27 teams at the Bandera Bulldog Invitational Cross Country Meet on Saturday morning, September 11.
Zaine Leal and Ebony Garza both finished ninth overall in their respective divisions to pace Pearsall.
Leal clocked in at 18:13.83 while Garza had a time of 13:11.12 in her two-mile race.
“Every week I continue to be impressed by my runners,” PHS Head Coach John Hernandez said.
Maverick results are as follows: Jorge Herrada, 55th, 19:52.08, CJ Garza, 56th, 19:52.82, Romeo Vega, 64th, 20:15.47, Tristan Ellis, 78th, 20:45.90, Matthew Frazier, 80th, 20:47.11, Dylan Ortiz, 81st, 20:49.25, Jaiden Ortiz, 93rd, 21:29.58.
Varsity girls’ results are as follows: Esmer Gonzales, 54th, 14:05.04, Tayla Elizondo, 60th, 14:18.44, Layla Torres, 70th, 14:26.48, Saynika Weaver, 76th, 14:36.77, Natalie Vega, 82nd, 14:48.23, Giselle Castillo, 90th, 15:04.95, Makayla Smart, 92nd, 15:12.46, Tori Vega, 99th, 15:29.93.
In junior varsity action, Pearsall’s Lady Mavs were ninth overall.
JV girls’ results are as follows: Tori Ortiz, 39th, 16:35.56, Samara Ruiz, 62nd, 17:43.75, Natalie Ortegon, 64th, 17:45.71, Sol Severa, 70th, 18:12.55, Klarissa Vasquez 73rd, 18:27.61.
JV boys’ results are as follows: Jonathan Viesa, 18th, 21:21.92, Xavier Rendon, 19th, 21:23.39, Jevan Torres, 25th, 21:56:68, Devin Alva, 38th, 22:48.18.
In junior high action, Pearsall’s seventh grade Lady Dogies were tenth overall in their division. Jeralyn Chavera led the team as she was 34th overall with a time of 13:35.89. Seventh grade girls’ results are as follows: Angelyn Montes, 50th, 14:17:00, Savannah Jasso, 84th, 16:17:48, Annabel Diaz, 85th, 16:17:84, Meaghan Chavera, 97th, 18:37.91, Audrina Ibarra, 106th, 22:00:74.
Ayden Rodriguez finished 41st at 11:11.71 for the eighth grade boys while Goliath Gonzales was 96th in the seventh grade boys’ field with a time of 15:23.85.
Izalae Garcia was 42nd with a time of 13:01.12 while Kalista Gutierrez came in 92nd at 15:14:66 in the eighth grade girls’ division.
Pearsall’s cross country teams will attend another large meet this week as they will be in competition at the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islander Splash on Saturday, September 18. The event is annually one of the biggest cross country events of the year.
