Carrizo Springs shuts out Cotulla; Wildcats haven’t allowed a score this season.
Cotulla dropped its third straight contest this week losing a 21-0 decision to unbeaten Carrizo Springs in a non-district affair at Myers Memorial Stadium last Friday.
The Wildcats scored three rushing touchdowns after a scoreless first quarter to break open a defensive struggle.
Carrizo Springs scored twice in the second to take a 14-0 lead in to the halftime break. They then added a third quarter score to make it 21-0.
Cotulla was unable to crack the scoreboard and after posting 47 points in their season opening win over La Pryor, have scored only 19 points in three games. The Cowboys did hold the Wildcats to their lowest point total of the season at 21 points.
Carrizo Springs had scored 30 or more points in its previous three wins, outscoring their opposition by a combined 131-0. The Wildcats have not allowed a single opponent to score on them this season.
The Cowboys hope to rebound this week against a Jourdanton Indians squad that is 1-3 this season following a year in which they were 11-2 regional semifinalists.
Jourdanton dropped three straight to open the year, losing 20-14 to Natalia, 55-20 to Corpus Christi Calallen and 42-26 to Pleasanton. They bounced back last week with a 30-21 decision over Eagle Pass Winn.
