Nancy Jean Moffett-Dalbey, 87, formerly of Dilley, died June 5 in Hilo, Hawaii. She was born on November 22, 1933 to Theodore “Ted” and Theodosia “Theo” Moffett.

She is preceded in death by her husband Ralph Jackson Dalbey Jr., son John Dalbey, grandson Bryan Dunn, and all six of her siblings, brothers Ted, Bob, Lane, Frank and Cliff and sister Amy Lou.

Nancy is survived by her daughters Darralyn (Craig) Clarke of Oceanview, Hawaii and Robyn (Pat) Dunn of Los Angeles, California, sons James (Judy) Dalbey of Rancho Del Rey, California, and Jeffrey (Tammy) Dalbey of Hilo, 16 grandsons and nine great-grandchildren.

Nancy Jean was a graduate of Baylor University in 1953 and completed her Master’s Degree in Education at the University of California-Irvine. She raised five children while enjoying a long career teaching special education. She was active in her church fellowship and was a volunteer tutor in retirement.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 2 at Covey Chapel Cemetery in Dilley. Donations in her name may be made to Alzheimer’s Association Hawaii (www.alz.org/hawaii)
