Manuel Piedad ‘Meme’ Sandoval Jr., 65, died September 10, 2021 surrounded by his family. He was born on December 9, 1955 to Manuel Piedad Sr. and Marcella Sandoval.
He was preceded in death by his parents, paternal grandparents Jose and Maria Sandoval, maternal grandparents Alfredo and Anastacia Cantu, sister Mary Camacho and his children Joseph and Julie Ann Sandoval.
Meme is survived by his lifelong partner, wife Micaela “Mickey” B. Sandoval, his children Roseanna (Johnathon Sample), JoAnna and Manuel Jose Sandoval Jr. III, his grandson Isaiah David Sample, his sisters Gloria Aleman, Maria Sandoval, Eloisa Hernandez (Ernest), his brother Daniel Sandoval, sister-in laws Clara Martinez, Dominga Olivares (Raymond), and Seferina Howington. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and many more cousins, extended family and friends.
Manuel and Mickey married in 1978 and spent many years taking nieces, nephews, and cousins for visits and adventures. They later had children they raised together in South Texas. After high school, Manuel graduated from Bee County College. He worked in the gas and oilfield industry from early on, and finally retired in August 2021.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 7 at Peters Funeral Home in Cotulla from 3 to 6 p.m. with a memorial service at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations towards medical bills uncovered by his insurance. Any remaining funds will be donated to the Texas Kidney Foundation in Manuel’s honor.
