DISTRICT 30-4A VOLLEYBALL
After nearly a week off, Pearsall resumed volleyball action last week as they entered District 30-4A play against Crystal City and Uvalde.
Pearsall was in a tough back-and-forth struggle with the Lady Javelinas, finally falling in three close sets before upending the Lobos in three straight to notch their first league win.
Crystal City took the league opener 25-23, 26-24, 26-24.
“We opened against Crystal City and, although we didn’t come home with the win, playing teams like Crystal City shows us our weaknesses and we will be ready the next time we play against them,” PHS Head Coach Erica Tellez said. “In Uvalde, we came out on top and took the win in three sets.
“Ceara Saenz and Ebony Garza are the first two players to dive for a volleyball and will do anything in their power to keep the ball in play.”
Pearsall routed Uvalde in three sets 25-17, 25-13, 25-11.
The Lady Mavs hosted Carrizo Springs Tuesday evening, October 5 and will host Hondo Friday night, October 8. Pearsall has another open date on October 12 before hosting Crystal City on Friday, October 15 to open the second round of league play.
