The Moore Community Improvement Club and the Frio County Sheriff’s Office will host the Moore Country Christmas on Saturday, December 18 at the community center from 3 to 9 p.m.
All residents of Frio County are invited to attend. The event is being billed as fun for the entire family and there will be a free toy giveaway for children, pictures with Santa, a cookie contest (rules for entry below), a winter wonderland play area, vendors and lots of goodies and food and an outdoor movie.
The toy giveaway begins at 3:30 p.m. and is open to children of all ages. Santa will make an appearance for photos. The winter wonderland play area will include fluffy white snow and the outdoor movie will start after dark so bring lawn chairs and blankets.
The cookie contest will be open to all amateur bakers and entries are to be submitted to the community center no later than 4 p.m. on December 18. A minimum of three dozen cookies should be submitted in a covered container. Cookies will be judged on Best Decorated and Best Tasting. Winners will be announced at 5:30 p.m. before the movie starts.
Vendor booths are available for the Moore Country Christmas event. A 10 x 10 area will be allotted to vendors for a small fee. The deadline to sign up is December 10. Call Laura Dominquez at (210) 947-5629 or Shelley Delgado at (210) 889-9350 for details.
The Moore Community Improvement Club will host a Toy Drive for the event on Saturday, December 11 at the community center from 9 a.m. To 3 p.m. Anyone wishing to drop off toys for the event is invited to stop by. The club will be decorating for event that day as well and volunteers will be needed.
Moore Senior Boxes are scheduled for Monday, November 22. Calls will go out as a reminder to those who qualify.
Anyone wanting to rent the community center this holiday season, can still do so. Call Claudia at (830) 267-0322 to reserve a date now and place a deposit. Tables at the community center have been upgraded and the older metal tables are being sold for $20 apiece.
