DISTRICT 14-4 A, DIVISION II ALL-DISTRICT TEAM
With all four representatives of District 14-4A, Division II bowing out of the playoffs in the first round, members of the all-district football team were recently announced with four Pearsall athletes earning six spots on the squad.
District champion Carrizo Springs dominated the field with six athletes earning league superlatives. Evan Castellanos was named the District Most Valuable Player while Avery Ramirez was Offensive MVP. Oscar Briseno and David Castro shared Defensive MVP honors. Julian Aynes was the Defensive Newcomer of the Year and Austin Reyes was the Utility Player of the Year.
Hondo’s Roberto Renteria was named the Special Teams MVP while Devine’s Carter Faubel and Bandera’s Alex Dirck were the Offensive Newcomers of the Year.
Pearsall did not have a first-team offensive player on the team, however outside linebacker Sebastian Talamantes was named the defensive second-team unit.
Joey Ramirez was named to the second-team as a running back and Christian Mendez was also a second-team selection at tight end.
Ramirez was also named to the all-district second team defense at safety and Hector Monroy was also a second-team selection at inside linebacker. Monroy was also named to the second-team special teams unit at punter.
The Mavericks went 0-10 this season and 0-5 in 14-4A, Division II play.
