The Moore Community Improvement Club will host it’s second annual Be the Light Holiday Decorating Contest this month.
Sign up begins December 1 and runs through December 15. There is a $10 fee per entry and cash prizes will be awarded for the top three winners. Judging will run from December 19 to 21. Sign up forms are available from every Moore Community Improvement Club officer as well as from Laura Dominguez at The Lil Shack. Additional information is also available on the MCIC Facebook Community group page.
The MCIC is also hosting the Moore Country Christmas event with the Frio County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday, December 18 at the community center from 3 to 9 p.m.
A cookie contest for the Moore Country Christmas will be open to all amateur bakers with no entry fee. Entries are to be submitted to the community center no later than 4 p.m. December 18, the day of the event. No sign up is required. A minimum of three dozen cookies should be submitted in a covered container. Cookies will be judged on presentation, taste/texture and consistency. Winners will be announced by 5:30 p.m. before the movie starts. Thanks to the generosity of several donors, there will be prizes of $100 for first place, $75 for second place and $25 for third place.
Vendor spots are still available for the event. A 10 x 10 area will be allotted to vendors for a small fee. The deadline to sign up is December 10. Call Laura Dominquez at (210) 947-5629 or Shelley Delgado at (210) 889-9350 for details.
The MCIC will also have a toy drive for the event on Saturday, December 11 at the community center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The MCIC will be decorating for event that same day. Anyone wishing to sign up for the light contest can also do so on that day.
There are also several weekend spots available to rent the community center. Call Claudia at (830) 267-0322 to reserve a date and put down a deposit.
