Kids meet Santa, Saturday 2-5 p.m.
The annual Cotulla Country Christmas will be held Saturday and Sunday, December 11-12, at the La Salle County Fairgrounds Exhibition Barn with several booths offering gifts, crafts, foods and holiday décor.
Gates will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday. The event is hosted by the La Salle County Fair Association.
Admission and parking will be free for the event, and children will be able to take part in a craft booth, making decorations and painting.
Santa Claus will be at the exhibition barn from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday and will meet with youngsters to hear their Christmas wishes and have photographs taken.
Vendors who have already booked to set up booths will offer seasonal décor, arts and crafts, clothing, gifts, jewelry and woodwork, among other handmade items; and concession stand foods available at the fairgrounds will include gorditas, tacos, tamales, and refreshments.
The fair association continues taking booth reservations at $25. Spaces are booked by calling (830) 879-2852.
The Christmas Cheer for Children charitable organization will have a donation box at the Country Christmas; visitors are invited to drop off new unwrapped toys for children of all ages from infant to late teen. Distribution of the gifts will be undertaken by volunteers in the days before Christmas to families identified as needy or economically disadvantaged.
A ‘Letters to Santa’ mailbox will also be set up at the exhibition barn, where youngsters can leave mail with their Christmas lists.
