Cotulla High School’s Jennifer Benavidez set school history by becoming the second back-to-back state champion in any sport and collected the school’s seventh state powerlifting title at the Texas High School Womens Powerlifting Association State Championships in Corpus Christi on Thursday, March 17. Benavidez not only won the title but dominated in setting new Class 3A state meet records in the squat (500 lbs.), deadlift (430 lbs.) and total weight (1,175 lbs.).
