DISTRICT 27-3A JUNIOR HIGH TRACK & FIELD

Cotulla’s seventh grade Cowboys were crowned champions of their division while the seventh grade Cowgirls were runners-up at the District 27-3A track and field meet on March 25 in Poth.
The eighth grade Cowboys finished fifth overall and the eighth grade Cowgirls were sixth at the event.
“The future looks bright for Cotulla with these student-athletes coming up,” CHS Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Marcus Booker said. “They always seem to dig deep, regardless of the numbers they have as a team.
“These kids’ heart is the reason I am proud to call them my Cotulla Cowboys. The coaches did a great job and it was definitely a great way to end the track season.”
The 7th grade team competed with only 14 team members. The relay team of Frankie Torres, Rene Barrera, Bradyn Rodriguez and Robert Perales dominated the 800m and mile relay events. The team of Trevor Rodriguez, Robert Perales, Bradyn Rodriguez, and Rene Barrera won the 400m relay.
Seventh grade boys’ results are as follows: high jump, second, Ryan Sanchez, third, Bradyn Rodriguez; long jump, first, Rene Barerra, sixth, Robert Perales; triple jump, first, Rene Barrera, fifth, Frankie Torres, 400m dash, first, Frankie Torres; pole vault, fourth, Mike Garcia; discus, fourth, Davyn Del Toro; 2,400m run, fifth, Jesus Alcocer; 1,600m run, sixth, Jesus Alcocer; 100m hurdles, fifth, Mike Garcia; 300m hurdles, first, Ryan Sanchez; 100m hurdles, tied for second, Ryan Sanchez.
Eighth grade boys’ results are as follows: long jump, second, Marco Benavidez; triple jump, first, Marco Benavidez; 800m run, sixth, Paul Gonzalez; 1,600m run, sixth, Paul Gonzalez; 100m dash, sixth, Dradyn Serna; 200m dash, sixth, Jerome Ramirez; 400m relay, third; 800m relay, third; 1,600m relay, third.
