Dilley’s Dorian Aranda, Dakota San Miguel and Chloe Rodriguez have earned qualifying spots for the Class 3A Region 4 track meet at Matador Stadium in Seguin on Friday and Saturday, April 29 and 30.
San Miguel qualified in the shot put, finishing third with a throw of 36’1/2”. Chloe qualified in the 400m dash with a fourth place time of 1:02.9 at the District 27/28 Area Meet April 20 in Columbus.
Aranda earned qualifying spots in the 100m dash, long jump and triple jump. He was fourth in all three events. He had a time of 11.06 in the 100m, a jump of 20’8-1/2” in the long jump and a leap of 42’7” in the triple jump. He also finished fifth in the 200m dash with a time of 22.80.
Janae Galindo was sixth in the shot put at the event while the Wolves’ 800m relay team was seventh with a time of 1:38.65. The 1,600m relay squad was also seventh at 3:43.17. Gabe Tijerina was also fifth in the shot put with a throw of 43’3”.
The top four area qualifiers advance to regional competition. Only the top two athletes at regionals move on to the state meet.
